British Gold Panning Competitions
Annually the BGA holds the Scottish and British Gold Panning Championships during the last weekend of May (bank holiday weekend) at the Wanlockhead Lead Mining Museum.
This year we will be celebrating 28 years of the British Gold Panning Association.
The village hall will be available to stay in this year.
The Scottish Championships are on the Saturday and the British Championships on the Sunday. Various competitions are held, including the open competition, veterans (over 60yrs) tri-pan, teams, juniors (under 16yrs) children are catered for too.
The championships are an event open to all, not just BGA members, and act as the yearly get together of mostly British and sometimes foreign gold panners. Stories and information are exchanged, and as the evening events progress, sometimes secrets too.
In 2017 there will not be a british or scottish championships.Due to the world championships in august. There will be a meeting at the wanlockhead mining museum on the 27th and 28th of may where we can all have a practice competition panning.
